A member of the Nemangkawi Bharatu Bachtiar Task Force, Monday (17/01), was shot by the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPN-PB) OPM, in Kiwirok, Pegunungan Bintang Regency, Papua.

"It is true that a member of the Nemangkawi Task Force was injured in the back of his left shoulder," said Pegunungan Bintang Police Chief AKBP Cahyo Sukarnito, as reported by Nabire.Net from Antara News Office.

The police chief stated that Bharatu Bachtiar's condition was currently stable. No further information has been obtained about the shooting.

Meanwhile, Papua Police Public Relations Chief Kombes Pol Ahmad Mustofa Kamal revealed the chronology of Nemangkawi Task Force member Bharatu Bachtiar shot by TPN-PB in Kiwirok District, Pegunungan Bintang Regency, Papua.

According to Kamal, the shooting occurred during a gun contact between the Nemangkawi Action Task Force (Belukar) and the Ngalum Kupel Armed Group led by Lamek Alipki Taplo, Monday.

"Around 06.50 WIT from the left side of the post, there was a shot at Pos Belukar which hit Bharatu Bachtiar's back," said Kamal.

Kamal said before the gun contact took place, around 06.00 WIT, the weather was foggy. Picket officers were on standby to monitor the situation around Pos Belukar Kiwirok.

50 minutes later, there was a shot from the left side of the post towards Pos Belukar which hit Bharatu Bachtiar's back.

"At 06.52 WIT, the Nemangkawi Action Task Force personnel at Pos Belukar returned fire and there was a gunfight," said Kamal.

Kamal said the perpetrator of the shooting was a member of TPN-PB Ngalum Kupel Group led by Lamek Alipki Toplo. Meanwhile, the victim, Bharatur Bachtiar, a member of the Police Brimob, suffered scratches due to being hit by a bullet.

"Bharatu Bachtiar was evacuated to Bhayangkara Jayapura Hospital for treatment," said Kamal.

In the incident of gun contact, Kamal said there were no casualties. After the incident, members of the Nemangkawi Operation Task Force were on standby at Pos Belukar.

"TNI-Polri security personnel continue to guard the vulnerable points and entrances of OPM," said Kamal.
